The only daughter of successful, society parents, the girlfriend of an up and coming public servant. What else could she want? But she did want more (or is it different?). Clarice has taken a job as police department psychologist, much to her family’s dismay, but she finds satisfaction in her job. When she is assigned Saint as a client after he kills a suspect, they each feel instant attraction, but also a sense of respect and connection with the other.
As the noose tightens around Saint, Clarice’s sense that he is a good man trying to right past wrongs grows.

This story is one of change and becoming more, of finding and holding on to family and love when it is hard and perhaps dangerous. Clarice is a a psychologist for the Police Department while Saint is a detective. Saint as killed a man who deserved what he got but now must be cleared for duty by Clarice. She sees something Saint is trying to keep buried that is haunting him and attempt to get him to open up. Meanwhile Clarice’s own parents are keeping their own secret which when revealed to her will turn her life upside down. Jean Brashear is one of my very favorite authors. Her stories are always awesome full or warmth as well as wonderful plots to keep you turning pages. I am so eagerly waiting for her next book. I am freely and happily reviewing this book. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat. Secrets, mystery, intrigue, action, and suspense throughout the book. Let us not forget romance.

Saint and Clarice are so different, yet share something neither are quite aware of when they first meet.

When she found out about her father, I was not expecting that twist. I appreciated that when Clarice's world was knocked off of its axis, it was Saint she ran to for comfort.

I was also surprised when finding out the "who" in the "who dun it?" I expected something completely different.

This makes me want to reread Texas Healer and Texas Deception.

I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book. I'm so very glad Jean Brashear is an author! This is one more terrific book in the Texas Heroes Series, and Lone Star Lovers Book Set. When I read this book, I'm immediately drawn into the story. Great character development and story line. There's a mix of suspense and romance. Clarice and Saint are strong characters who are on an emotional roller coaster. I can't give anything away on events in the story, just suffice it to say, I highly recommend this book! I've read many, many books by this author, and somehow each one seems to be awesome. But this is one of my new favorites! Now, go grab your copy of this book!
I received an ARC and have chosen to provide my honest review. This was a truly outstanding book. It has a touch of everything. Mystery, suspense, action, and a nice slow build romance. Saint and Clarice are complete opposites in personality as well as coming from two different worlds yet you can see immediately how well they work together. With his career in her hands Saint has to fight his fierce attraction and pull to Clarice. Yet when her own life implodes she turns to him and there is no way he can refuse her.

This book is very well written and these characters are captivating. Definitely a book I recommend. So enjoyable! I like this while this series does have the common thread of three separated sisters, each book truly stands alone with its own unique story. Saint and Clarice are forced together in a professional capacity, but it quickly becomes obvious that the attraction can't be denied. Clarice is a great heroine, and I enjoyed going along on her journey of selfdiscovery. Her strength and determination definitely shines by the end, and I really respected her. Saint is clearly a good cop even though others are gunning for him. He does have a little bit of a rogue edge, but it is obvious that he is a good guy. I really liked Saint and Clarice together and thought they brought out the best in each other. The plot was dynamic and kept me engaged. Seeing the sisters all reunited was truly heartwarming and those scenes were really emotional. My only complaint is that I still felt like I wanted to know more about Saint and his past. But overall this was still a very enjoyable book. 4.5 stars! I love it when a story keeps me guessing about the twists and turns. The HEA is a given for this author but she makes you work for it. And this story was no exception. This completes the stories of the three sisters separated years ago but you don’t have to read the other stories first for this one to make sense. I like that you can pick up a book, read it and then also go back to previous ones if you want to learn the full story.

A profiler and a detective on the police force don’t usually have a connection besides a case but Clarice Sutton and Saint Valdez never do what anyone thinks they should be doing. And they really butt heads at first. He needs her to clear him to work so he can prove his innocence. What he doesn’t need is to be attracted to the doctor and let that interfere with his concentration. She has always tried to make sure to do the right thing and not draw attention to herself. Both of them fail in this case and the heat explodes between them.

Several twists and turns that you don’t expect but it does finally come together! Wish the story were longer and had expanded the reconnection with her sisters but in all, it was a wonderful story with reality thrown in for a change.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. No compensation was promised or received for this review.
