Welp I wanted a dark creepy Derek I got a dark creepy Derek He is not actually at his creepiest in this but his and Stiles age kind of lent to the whole creepy vibe. The spoiler is pertaining to their ages view spoiler So it s like this Stiles is 13 Derek is 16 13 is definitely too young but TBH so is 16 Neither of them should have been fooling around but even though Derek was truly creeptastic on a couple of occasions he was in his own weird way very careful and considerate of Stiles I was also very glad to get Stiles POV from time to time, I for one needed to see how and what he was thinking It actually reassured me to know that he knew they were not behaving normally and that he knew Derek was a bit cray, cray If he was thinking it was all normal behaviour I would ve been a lot freaked out hide spoiler 4.5Extremely well written A great story about obsession of the extreme possessive type, but not for me crossing the line into anything abusive leaving aside the characters ages see below I thought the picture of Derek was brilliant, totally original and memorable, all the impressive since Derek is too often little than a smoldering presence LONG ASIDE ON THE AGE QUESTION I am curious how people will react to this since I myself am very divided The parent in me can t help thinking I would be ready to reach for a shotgun or jump off the GW bridge if this was about one of my kids, but I was sexually active teenager at some point during the previous millennium, and that person was driven by some pretty strong desires that my own parents saw fit to totally disapprove of Principles like the age of consent mattered to me about as much as my mom s dire warnings that people would say I was a slut I can practically hear my teenage self yelling go to hell And again, while I can t imagine a parent ever accepting any of this, none of my close friends who were sexually active at Stiles age in the story in fact regard it as a catastrophe All of this is to say, at least some kids that age have very strong desires, and while adults can rightly feel they aren t close to ready for the responsibilities of being sexually active, it feels wrong to me to act like younger teens could never be willing to act on those desires, that they would or should automatically regard sex as abusive or destructive Hesitant bottom line I am an adult now, and the risks of young people being manipulated, exploited, or pulled into behavior they don t fully understand will always take precedence for me I only accept that a sexually active young person may have a very different view of their own experience certainly that was the case for me back in the day. Fic To Hear His Alibis Words Complete i read this fic before the first one, but reviewed it in the other goodreads listing.i FAIL will diminish, and go into the west i m so chagrined i m literally blushing i can feel itw.e both fics are about the same thing anyway rationalizing until the sun goes down Upgraded to 5 stars because so incredibly compelling, touching, beautiful and slightly uncomfortable and even better when you treat Nothing like the first in tone A bit stalkerish, forced attention and then steamy hot A lot of emotion in this one where Derek initiates a relationship with Stiles after being taken under the Sheriffs wings Might have started a bit younger than most feel comfortable with, but the age range is well within acceptable levels for me.Favorite quote Seriously, don t make me start the biting game, Stiles threatens, pinking at the idea because it always ends badly amazingly, terribly teeth marks and bruises and blood, once, because everything has to be a competition and everything always escalates in the quickest most frightening of ways. 4.5 stars Wow, so uncomfortable Uncomfortable, uncomfortable, uncomfortable But so well written both technically and expressively, that I cannot deny that I enjoyed the dynamic of Stiles and Derek s personalities portrayed in this AU even if my mind keeps placing both boys much older while in it I have a lot of mixed emotions for this one And I am not really sure where to start This Sterek focuses on a Lolita like relationship that begins when Stiles is 13 and Derek is 16 and is continuing at the end of the story when they are now 20 and 23 respectively As the mother of two sons, the age of consent was most certainly an issue And yet both their characters were portrayed in a fashion that they possessed the maturity to grasp that As I read my mind was screaming at how wrong this relationship was and how much I would flip if I were John, but a part of me did not read either boy being a victim in this relationship I am not quite sure I have the time it is the holiday rush two weeks before Xmas as I write this maybe I will revisit this review again during a different time of year or the current wear with all to deeply reflect and convey clearly my thoughts during this story I think Lilia s review probably sums it up best that if Stiles where my kid and I found out, Derek would be dead, yet a part of me reflects on myself as a sexually experimenting teenager not as young as Stiles, though and has to concede some point that is still buried in the back of mind unable to be formed into words at this time I will say the characterizations of both Stiles and Derek are so fluid and well contrived that I think this would stand well on it s own not as a Sterek That this author has a story here and does not need to rely on Teen Wolf characters to tell it I highly recommend reading Hear his alibis AFTER reading this one It is listed as the prequel to MbS, but really it is of a companion to MbS The events in HHA are simultaneous to those in MbS and are told from John s POV which I felt was much needed Here are some of my highlighted notes for a tasteStiles is an acquired taste, like brussel sprouts and once you learn to like brussel sprouts, you love them, and hey they re good for you but that doesn t mean you want to eat them everyday They don t talk about sex, as much as they have of it They don t talk about the future, or the past They don t talk about Derek s family, or Stiles s mom They talk about sports and school if anything at all When they have a moment alone it s not for heart to hearts Mouth to mouth, maybe, but that s a way to keep secrets, not tell them So maybe there isn t a word for it Maybe it s just who they are Or maybe all people are really this fucked up, under their normal boring everyday stuff Maybe everyone has someone they re a little bit crazy for I know, Stiles says, because he s never been afraid to say no to Derek, even if he never has C mon, what Excerpt From 1001cranes multiplied by seven Archive of Our Own, 2012 04 23 iBooks This material may be protected by copyright. 4.5 StarsWow, the wonders of the male teenage libido.I do recommend you read the short prequel part 1 Hear his alibis first for character and story background This fic was very different from any I ve read so far It s a bit twisted, a bit dark Yes, Stiles is Stiles and Derek is definitely Derek but their coming together was not fluffy or really fun probably because their ages do make it a bit taboo Derek has Stiles against the trees, in the undergrowth, on moss and stones and twigs, and he learns Stiles as intensely as he s learned anything He likes it so much, and he doesn t even understand why Derek on top of him, holding him down like a cage, like someone is going to steal him away, or Stiles is going to get up and run, and either of those options are totally unacceptable This is an intense love It s palpable and frantic and secretive but in that desperation, they can t stop you don t want them to stop and it s really quite beautiful view spoiler Do you ever regret burning down the house It s a moment before Derek answers It s the best thing I ever did It got me you hide spoiler I love reading about crazy, dysfunctional love Sometimes two people with just the right kind of crazy in their heads come together and strike a spark of even bigger crazy they bring to life. It s an excellent read It s intense and twisty although not as dark as all the warnings in the story led me to believe It can be read as a stand alone but I think reading Hear his alibis gives both depth. Excellent and hot like burning to paraphrase Stiles, that adorable little minx. You know, whenever I read reviews warning that such and such a book or fic is dark or edgy my reaction after reading it is what s the biggie But if I hadn t read those reviews my reaction might have been WHOA, DUDE The end gets awfully fluffy which I m totally fine with It wasn t totally jarring If you want to skip directly to the edgier stuff, you can start here, but reading Hear his alibis and then this one makes for an interesting juxtaposition Seriously, for a sheriff, Stiles dad really doesn t have a clue. This pic has nothing to do with this story But it s Dylan O Brien In leather pants.
